Boundless Networking EventsThe Boundless network provides networking opportunities for disabled practitioners living or working in Southwark; and for people involved in the arts and disability sector in Southwark. The network is funded by Southwark Council and managed by Southwark Arts Forum (SAF). The Boundless Network Launch The 1st meeting was hosted by Siobhan Davies Studios and included a performance of ‘Dusk’, a site specific performance created by Candoco Youth Dance for the Boundless launch. Candoco Youth Dance is led by Candoco Dance Company for 14-25 year old disabled and non-disabled young people. The event also screened a collection of short films by disabled filmmakers: Edward Birch, Director of SAF gave a presentation highlighting the purpose and potential of the network. A summary of the presentation is given below: What has happened to the Boundless Festival? • Boundless was launched in 2007 as a festival programme showcasing and promoting the work of disabled artists and engaging young disabled people in a sports programme. • Boundless was delivered through a partnership between Southwark Council, Southwark Disability Forum and Community Action Southwark. • After two festivals, the decision was made to focus on nurturing a disability arts network to better support the disability sector in Southwark. • Southwark Council would like to take this opportunity to thank the Boundless steering group, venue partners, partner organisations, funders, artists and many individuals for their support, time and invaluable advice which made Boundless work and we hope they will continue to offer support to the new Boundless Network. • To provide an opportunity for Southwark based disabled people working in the arts and creative industries, to come together and share their experiences, voice their frustrations and celebrate the arts and creative industries. What is the purpose of the Network? • Provide a platform for expression and discussion Does the Network have rules? • Disagreeing is good and encouraged • Listening is very good • Expressing your opinions and thoughts is encouraged • Liking everyone will probably not happen What is SAF’s role? • Facilitate the network meetings To find out more about the Boundless Network please Contact Us | |
