Edward Birch, Director of SAF gave a presentation highlighting the purpose and potential of the network. A summary of the presentation is given below:

What has happened to the Boundless Festival?

• Boundless was launched in 2007 as a festival programme showcasing and promoting the work of disabled artists and engaging young disabled people in a sports programme.

• Boundless was delivered through a partnership between Southwark Council, Southwark Disability Forum and Community Action Southwark.

• After two festivals, the decision was made to focus on nurturing a disability arts network to better support the disability sector in Southwark.

• Southwark Council would like to take this opportunity to thank the Boundless steering group, venue partners, partner organisations, funders, artists and many individuals for their support, time and invaluable advice which made Boundless work and we hope they will continue to offer support to the new Boundless Network.

What is the Boundless Network?

• To provide an opportunity for Southwark based disabled people working in the arts and creative industries, to come together and share their experiences, voice their frustrations and celebrate the arts and creative industries.

What is the purpose of the Network?

• Provide a platform for expression and discussion
• Provide access to key individuals and organisations
• Create opportunities to profile and promote members work’
• Provide an opportunity to NETWORK – meet, greet and exchange

• Plan to takeover the world starting with Southwark

Does the Network have rules?

• Disagreeing is good and encouraged
• Insulting people is bad and discouraged

• Listening is very good
• Talking constantly is very bad

• Expressing your opinions and thoughts is encouraged
• Feeling pressurised to voice an opinion must never happen

• Liking everyone will probably not happen
• Disliking everyone is just sad
