 A CELEBRATION OF DEAF ANS DISABLED ARTISTS IN PECKHAM

On Sunday 2nd September, Boundless Arts will transform Peckham Square to celebrate the creativity of deaf and disabled local performers and artists with live music, dance and art exhibitions. 

Singer story-teller Kate Portal, the Southwark-based Samba band Bloco Maluco and the groups Corali Dance , Ready Willing Able and Sign Dance Theatre will get Peckham singing and dancingDeafinitely Theatre will perform the poem  Spring/Winter from their production ‘Love’s Lost. CoolTan Arts will engage the audience with dynamic drawing  and paper making workshops whilst Francesca Pratt, Shape Arts and the BEAM Artists Group will showcase their work.

Other highlights of the day include comedy by Liam O’Carroll, poetry and story-tellinginspirational talks, an art installation and films.

       “Disabled artists can struggle to get the recognition they deserve. Boundless Arts will bring more visibility to these talented artists and will create a platform and a legacy that will be growing year after year. We feel truly excited to be able to show case their work in this festival - it’s going to be an amazing day”

The festival is produced by Southwark Arts Forum and is part of The Elephant and the Nun, a family festival featuring nine events coordinated by London Borough of Southwark's Events Team.  Boundless Arts will take place from 1pm to 7pm across Peckham Square, Peckham Space, Peckham Library andPeckham Pulse.

Directions to Peckham Square

 

·       Bus: 12, 36, 171, 343, 345, 436

·       Train: Peckham Rye Station.  Peckham Rye Station is located on Rye Lane. Turn left on Rye Lane and walk up approximately 200 meters to Rye Lane's junction with Peckham High Street. On the opposite side of Peckham High Street is Peckham Square.

·       Tube: As there is no tube station close to the square take the underground to London Bridge Train Station and take an
overland train to Peckham Rye Station. Alternately take the
Northern Line to Elephant & Castle or Oval tube stations and take a bus to Peckham.
